Vacancies for Retained/Part Time Firefighters - Kingscourt

Applications are invited for retained firefighters in Kingscourt Town

Candidates must be aged not less than 18 years on 14th October 2020 and normal retirement age for fire fighters is 55 years.

Applicants shall possess adequate literacy and numeric skills to allow them to carry out their duties in a competent and safe manner (applicants may be required to undertake literacy and numeric skills test as part of the selection process).

An appropriate level of physical fitness is a key element in ensuring Firefighter effectiveness and in protecting their health and safety (applicants may be required to undertake physical fitness tests as part of the selection process).

Possession of a Class C Driving Licence would be an advantage.

It is part of the terms of engagement for retained/part-time fire personnel that persons appointed shall work and reside within a distance of 1.5 miles from the fire station to enable them to function effectively.


Remuneration of Retained/Part Time Fire Fighter

Inclusive Annual Allowance

Retainer Fee:

  • (0 – 2 years) €8,033
  • (2 – 5 years) €8,927
  • (5 – 10 years) €10,010
  • (10 years+) €11,001

A firefighter would typically be required to undertake a minimum of 100 hours of training including drill nights at the local fire station and ongoing training courses during each year of employment
