Met Éireann has issued an orange weather alert for County Cavan from 4pm Thursday, 7 December until 6pm, Friday, 8 December.
Published on: 07 Dec 2017
This will likely see significant falls of snow likely to cause accumulations of 3 cm or greater above mean sea level. Slippery paths and roads due to accumulation of ice on untreated surfaces are likely.
Cavan County Council salting crews will treat current salting routes (see here) throughout Thursday night, Friday morning and Friday afternoon.
Whether driving on treated or untreated roads, motorists should at all times drive slowly and with extreme care, and only undertake necessary journeys.
Pedestrians should also be mindful of the dangers of slippery paths during this cold spell.
See the video below for advice from the Road Safety Authority on driving in snow.
