Tuesday, 2 December: Motorists are advised to avoid travel for the duration of Storm Eleanor, with a number of roads closed due to fallen trees and debris

Update Wednesday, 09:00: Gusty conditions persisting this morning. Fire Service and council crews clearing blockages at Cornadarragh Belturbet, Ashgrove Baker’s Bridge and Drummullen Farnham this morning and all should be avoided. N54 at Cloverhill and Killeshandra-Crossdoney Rd open to one lane but should be avoided if possible, particularly by HGVs

 

19:30 Road between Bakers Bridge and Milltown currently blocked by fallen tree. Reports coming in of a number of trees down around the county. Units from #Cavan Fire Service being despatched to clear these ASAP. Unnecessary travel should be avoided while #StormEleanor passes

19:40 The Butlersbridge to Cloverhill Road, near The Olde Post Inn is blocked with large fallen trees and likely to remain blocked until morning. Please avoid.

19:51 There's been a road traffic collision on the N3 at Virginia on the Dublin side. The road is currently blocked. Avoid. #StormEleanor

20:20 Trees down at Crossdoney on Killeshandra side, unit from Cavan Fire Station in attendance. Units from all ten fire stations in the county have been called to attend various incidents throughout Cavan, please avoid road travel tonight

20:48 Up to 12 trees down at Drummullen, Farnham between rear entrance to Farnham Estate and Drummullen cottages. The road is completely blocked and will not be cleared until the morning as large machinery required. Avoid area #StormEleanor
