Creating a Vision for Lough Sheelin

The Local Authority Waters and Communities Office (LAWCO), Inland Fisheries Ireland and Rivers Trust, supported by Cavan County Council, are offering residents in the Lough Sheelin catchment area the opportunity to meet individuals and groups who have an interest in the waters, wildlife and heritage on their doorstep.

Meetings are being held with communities within the catchment of Lough Sheelin and its rivers that will allow participants to share stories, knowledge and ideas, and learn about how to create a plan for the future of the Lough Sheelin Catchment.

Individuals, businesses, farmers, interest groups, anglers, clubs and communities are all welcome to participate in these local events taking place at the following locations:

  • Oldcastle, Céilí House Hotel                   19 April 2018 at 8pm
  • Mountnugent, Crover House Hotel         26 April 2018 at 8pm
  • Ballyjamesduff, St. Joseph’s Hall            1 May 2018 at 8pm

This free event aims to gather people’s experiences, memories and ideas in order to create a community vision for the future of local waterways.

LAWCO was set up in 2016 to raise public awareness of our water resources and encourage local communities, public bodies and all stakeholders to work together in the management of our natural waters.
