Shercock Do Not Drink notice lifted

Irish Water and Cavan County Council confirm that the Do Not Drink and Do Not Wash drinking water restriction has been lifted on the Shercock Public Water Supply which is served from the Dhuish Group Water Scheme in Co Cavan, following consultation with the HSE.

Published on: 25 May 2018

The notice was put in place on 21 May 2018 and is now lifted with immediate effect.

As a final precautionary measure consumers on the Shercock Public Water Supply whose water systems have not been in use since 21st May should ensure that they flush out their systems by running their hot and cold taps for a period of at least thirty minutes before resuming normal use of the water supply.

Customers can now resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth and washing.

Irish Water and Cavan County Council acknowledge the patience, cooperation and assistance of the general public during the period of the drinking water restriction and greatly regrets any inconvenience caused to householders, the farming and business community.

Irish Water and Cavan County Council apologise for the inconvenience caused by this restriction and thanks customers for their patience while both organisations liaised with the HSE to remove the notice as quickly as possible.
