Applications are invited for retained fire-fighters in Cootehill, Dowra, Ballyconnell, Killeshandra, and Virginia.

Candidates must be aged not less than 18 years on 5 July 2019 and normal retirement age for fire fighters is 55 years.
Applicants shall possess adequate literacy and numeric skills to allow them to carry out their duties in a competent and safe manner (applicants will be required to undertake literacy and numeric skills test as part of the selection process).
An appropriate level of physical fitness is a key element in ensuring Firefighter effectiveness and in protecting their health and safety (applicants will be required to undertake physical fitness tests as part of the selection process).
Possession of a Class C Driving Licence would be an advantage.
It is part of the Terms of Engagement for Retained/Part-time Fire Personnel that persons appointed shall work and reside within a distance of 1.5 miles from the Fire Station to enable them to function effectively.

Inclusive Annual Allowance
Retainer Fee: (0 – 2 years) €7,895; (2 – 5 years) €8,773; (5 – 10 years) €9,838;
(10 years +) €10,812
A Firefighter would typically be required to undertake a minimum of 100 hours of training including drill nights at the local fire station and ongoing training courses during each year of employment
