To celebrate National Tree Week, the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte, with support from Cavan County Council, are making saplings available for free, to voluntary community groups.
Published on: 02 Mar 2021
Any interested group must undertake to plant saplings in a suitable public location, in their own community.
This year there will be limited number of saplings available and that a priority ranking maybe implemented for award of the trees to groups. Saplings will be supplied on a first-come-first-served basis, with preference given to community groups that have previously participated in National Tree Week. Applicants who demonstrate where planting will happen, and success of previous planted saplings/trees will be ranked higher.
How to apply
To express your interest in availing of saplings, groups should complete and return the application form by 5pm Friday 12th March 2021 to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to the Waste Management Section, Cavan County Council, Old Library Building, Farnham Street, Cavan.
Groups will be notified in advance of National Tree Week if they have been allocated saplings. The timing of distribution/collection of these trees to allocated groups is yet to be decided and is very much dependent on public health restrictions in place during National Tree Week.
Participants are asked to please follow all the government guidelines in respect of Covid-19, especially in respect of group activities.
