The winning of this prestigious award is a massive achievement and is coming at a great time for the County.

The judges said: “the County Council embraces disability and demonstrates it can put disability policies into action, delivering real and tangible business benefits both internally and externally. Leadership is evident from top management right throughout the county council. They take an organisational wide approach to disability.“

It is very important that we keep building on the good work done to date to ensure that people with disabilities have maximum access to everything that is going on in County Cavan.

This is Ireland’s National Human Resource Management Standard and it’s purpose is to encourage organisations to strive for excellence through the training, development and involvement of their staff.

Following a thorough assessment conducted by FAS, Cavan County Council received a very high overall score of 90.03% and will hold this award for a period of two years. This award focuses on people as a key resource and is due recognition to the commitment of all staff of Cavan County Council who continually focus on providing excellent customer service.

The CPD Accreditation Scheme is designed to support lifelong learning by stimulating and recognising good organisational practice in the area of professional development for engineers and technical staff but can also be applied to all staff members in all areas of the organisation.

It is meant to yield measurable benefits under the following headings: Maximising potential of employees, Optimising payback from Training and Development expenditures, Creating an innovative and dynamic culture, Better alignment of business goals with annual plans and personal development, Improving recruitment and retention of staff and Raising the profile of our Office.

Cavan County Council has been accredited by Engineers Ireland in recognition of the quality of, and commitment to, its CPD systems and practices for engineering & technical staff for a maximum of 3 years.
