Under the Local Government Act, 2001, as amended by the Local Government Reform Act 2014, Cavan County Council is required to establish Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs).
SPCs provide forum where Local Authority Members and relevant sectoral interests with specific expertise can work together and advise and assist the Council in the formulation and development of policy.
A Draft Strategic Policy Committee Scheme for the period 2014-2019 has been prepared in accordance with guidelines published by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government: “Strategic Policy Committees: Guidelines for Establishment and Operation”.
Cavan County Council proposes to establish four SPC’s covering the following areas:
1. Economic Development and Enterprise Policy
