Emergency Road Closure - Bailieborough St Patrick's Day Parade

Temporary Closing of Roads pursuant to Section 75 of Roads Act 1993 and Article 12 of Road Regulations 1994.

Notice is hereby given that Cavan County Council has made an order to close to public traffic the roads described hereunder on Tuesday 17th March 2026 between the hours of 1pm and 5pm for the purposes of accommodating the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Bailieborough.

Roads Closed:

  • R178 Barrack Street from Community School car park to junction of R165 Main Street.
  • R165 top of Main Street to Junction of R178 lower Main Street.
  • R178 from lower Main Street to roundabout on the Shercock Rd

Alternative Routes:

  • Traffic travelling from R 178 Virginia Rd to R165 Cavan Rd: Divert via the L7584 Urcher L3553 Lisnalea L 7618 New Road to R165 Cavan Rd and vice versa.
  • Traffic travelling from R 165 Cavan Rd to R178 Shercock Rd: Divert via R 191 to the Hideout L 7529 Crocknahattin L 3515 Lear to R 178 Shercock Rd and vice versa.
  • Traffic travelling from R 165 Kingscourt Rd to R178 Virginia Rd: Divert via R 178 Shercock Rd to L3515 Lear L7529 Crocknahattin R191 Hideout R165 to L7618 New Rd L3553 Lisnalea L7584 Urcher to R178 Virginia rd and vice versa.
  • Traffic travelling from R191 Kells Rd to R 165 Kingscourt Rd: Divert via L3538 Tierworker Rd L3529 L 7569 Corkish to R165 Kingscourt Rd and vice versa.
