Lifting of Do Not Consume Notice for Arvagh Public Water Supply

Date of Lifting of Drinking Water Restriction Notice: Monday, 12 October 2026

Families, businesses and all other customers in Arvagh can once again use their tap water as normal following the lifting of the Do Not Consume Notice. The team in Uisce Éireann, working in consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), can confirm that the water supply is now safe for drinking, preparing food, brushing teeth and all other domestic uses.

The notice has been lifted following the completion of works and a series of satisfactory water quality tests which confirmed the water supply meets all required drinking water standards.

We understand the concern, inconvenience and disruption the notice, which was issued on Thursday, 1 October due to to elevated levels of manganese in the water entering the supply, caused for customers. We would like to sincerely thank the community for its patience, cooperation and support while our drinking water experts worked to resolve the issue and restore normal service.

Thomas Gibbons of Uisce Éireann said: "The lifting of this Do Not Consume Notice is very positive news for the community. Protecting public health is always our priority and, while we know the restrictions were challenging, they were necessary to ensure customers' safety.
