Minutes of Annual General Meeting of Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District held in Council Chamber, Courthouse, Cavan on Monday 9th June 2025 at 11.30 a.m.

Cathaoirleach S Conaty welcomed all to the meeting.
Cathaoirleach C Kelly thanked his fellow Councillors, The Executive and the staff of the Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District Office for their co-operation and support over the last twelve months and for all the work that was completed throughout the year. He commiserated with outgoing Councillors Mr Aiden Fitzpatrick and Mr Paddy McDonald and complimented them as long serving and hard-working members of the council. He welcomed Cllr S Conaty and Cllr N Smith as new members.
Confirmation of Minutes
- To confirm Minutes of the AGM Bailieborough-Cootehill MD Meeting held on 12 June 2023.
Proposed by Councillor C Brady, seconded by Councillor S. O’Reilly and resolved “that minutes of meeting of Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District held on 12th June 2023 be hereby approved”
2. Declaration of persons duly elected as members of Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District (Local Government Act, 2001) as amended
Mr C O’Callaghan declared that the following Councillors had been elected as members of Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District - Cllr. S O’Reilly, Cllr. C. Brady, Cllr. C Kelly, Cllr, V. Smith, Cllr. N Smith, Cllr. S. Conaty.
3. To elect a Cathaoirleach for the coming year
It was proposed by Councillor C Kelly that Councillor S O’Reilly be elected as Cathaoirleach. This was seconded by Councillor C. Brady. As there was no other nomination Councillor S O Reilly was deemed elected as Cathaoirleach for the coming year.
4. To elect a Leas Cathaoirleach for the coming year
It was proposed by Councillor C Kelly that Councillor S Conaty be elected as Leas Cathaoirleach. This was seconded by Councillor S O Reilly. As there was no other nomination Councillor S Conaty was deemed elected as Leas Cathaoirleach for the coming year.
Cathaoirleach S O’Reilly thanked Cllrs C Kelly and C Brady for nominating her and also the members for their support. She stated that the council members work very well together and with the Executive and she is looking forward to the year ahead. She stated that roads are a huge issue in the BailieboroughCootehill M.D. and hopes that if there is a General Election down the line there may be more funding available for roads.
All the councillors congratulated Cathaoirleach S O’Reilly on her election and wished her well in her new position. They all also wished Councillor S Conaty well in his new position as Leas Cathaoirleach.
Newly elected Cathaoirleach, S O’Reilly, thanked everyone for attending the meeting. A date of 15th July was set for the next Bailieborough-Cootehill Municipal District meeting, to be held in the Council Chamber, Courthouse, Cavan at 12 pm.
The meeting concluded at 1pm.
