Fire Brigade Charges

Fire Brigade charges are payable for the attendance of the Fire Brigade at all types of fires including domestic, commercial and industrial premises, and for other special services i.e. attendance at road traffic collisions, flooding, hazardous materials incidents, trees down, oil spills etc.

Charges for Fire Service attendance at incidents are provided for under Section 35(3) of the Fire Services Acts 1981 and the provisions of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Act, 1983.

Fire Brigade Charges are dealt with by the Fire Service administrative staff and invoices issued are payable to:

Cavan County Council, Customer Service Desk, Ground Floor, Farnham Centre, Farnham Street, Cavan H12 C9K1.

Fire brigade charges

Fire brigade charges are as follows:

Firefighters' fees* plus 25% for:

  • Domestic fires
  • Industrial fires
  • Other fires
  • Road traffic collisions
  • Special services

*Firefighters' fees are calculated as follows: during normal hours, €46.80 per firefighter for the first hour and €23.40 for each hour thereafter, and on weekends, and between 10pm and 7am daily, €93.60 for the first hour, and €46.80 per hour thereafter (as of March 2023). For example, a crew of 12 firefighters attending a domestic fire for two hours on a Saturday afternoon would result in fees of €1,684.80 and an addition charge of 25% leading a total charge of €2,106.

  • Chimney fires charged at €200
  • Fallen trees charged at €200
  • Units stood down resulting in non-attendance at scene €200
  • NOTE: There is no charge if a fire tender assists in a medical emergency

PLEASE NOTE: fire service charges, where applicable, are charged to the property/vehicle owner, not the person who calls the fire brigade. If you see a fire, you should always call 999 or 112
