Report Illegal Dumping

Illegal Dumping

The illegal dumping of waste is an offence under The Waste Management Act 1996 and can result in large fines or even imprisonment.

We currently operate a service where residents in County Cavan are able to report incidents of illegal dumping in their area.

You can contact the waste management section of Cavan County Council in a confidential manner where requested. However, confidential complaints reduce the chances of effective actions being taken by the local authorities in circumstances where court proceedings are required.

Our staff investigate all reports of illegal dumping and any action is taken where it is appropriate.

How do I make a report of illegal dumping?

If you would like to make a report of illegal dumping in your area, you can contact the Waste Management section in a confidential manner using the following details. When leaving a message, please give the exact location and details of where you saw the illegal dumping take place:

  • Tel: 049 4378410
  • Lo-call: 1890 606606
