Cavan Age Friendly County

Age Friendly Strategy

The Cavan Age Friendly Alliance is currently preparing an Age Friendly Strategy for County Cavan for the next three years. This strategy will include actions aimed at improving key areas of infrastructure, transportation, services, information, engagement of older people in the community and an overall response to issues identified by older people across the county. The strategy covers 8 specific themes to benefit older people:

  • Outdoor Spaces and Public Buildings
  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Respect and Social Inclusion
  • Social Participation
  • Communication and information
  • Civic Participation and Employment
  • Community Support and Health Services

We are currently carrying out research on the needs of older people in County Cavan under each of the above themes. We would also like to hear people’s opinions and suggestions in response to the effects the Covid19 pandemic is having on the lives of older people.

If you would like to contribute to our research please contact the Cavan Age Friendly Programme by email to agefriendly@cavancoco.ie or phone 049 4378581 or 049 4378586. To complete an online Age Friendly Survey please CLICK HERE.

Closing date for receipt of submissions and survey responses is 5pm Friday 24th July 2020

Information for older people

Cavan County Council addressed information gaps by putting together a booklet that provides clear information on Council services, such as housing grants, water grants, Sports Partnership supports, and planning information.

We also worked with the County Cavan Citizens' Information Service to include additional information relevant to older people, such as pension entitlements and other grants.
