New Cavan Monaghan Connects Platform Launched

Community leaders, health professionals and service users gathered on the 18th of June in The Peace Link, Clones, to unveil Cavan Monaghan Connects – a new, purpose-built online hub that brings trusted mental health information, services, and training opportunities together in one easily-navigated place for the people of Cavan and Monaghan.

Established by HSE Connecting for Life Cavan Monaghan, in partnership with Mental Health Ireland, Cavan and Monaghan County Councils, and a broad network of local community & statutory organizations, the project was developed in response to the growing need for quality-assured and evidence-based information related to mental health and wellbeing, including information on local support and services available.

This project allows the locality to sort supports by county, age group, theme or delivery type in seconds. All listings are vetted, up-to-date and tailored to Cavan and Monaghan, reducing the “needle-in-a-haystack” search through national directories. The online hub is built to grow as service providers can submit events or training directly through the site, while a feedback form encourages ongoing community input and quality improvement.

The launch opened with Cathaoirleach Cllr O’Hanlon welcoming guests to the Peace Link on behalf of Monaghan County Council, after which Padraig O’Beirne, Area Director of Nursing with HSE Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Services, set the scene as Master of Ceremonies. Lisa Cuthbert, CEO of Mental Health Ireland, outlined the initiative’s vision and the importance of collaboration across sectors. Communications Co-ordinator Odhran O’Brien then showcased the Cavan Monaghan Connects platform, sharing video messages of support and guiding attendees through key features and navigation. The event closed with the HSE Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention, Emer Mulligan, who formally acknowledged the many funders, statutory partners and community organizations whose joint effort made the new regional resource possible and thanked all in attendance for their ongoing commitment to mental health promotion.
