Notice regarding Algal Blooms

Due to a combination of prevailing weather conditions and nutrient enrichment, algal blooms, which appear as a green scum, may appear on lakes throughout County Cavan at this time of year. 

Avoid contact with algal blooms as they may cause skin irritation or be toxic if ingested.

Dogs are particularly sensitive to these blooms and should be kept away from affected water and shorelines.
