Notice under Section 15 (1) of the Derelict Sites Act, 1990 - 3 Rossa Place, Cavan Town

Notice of intention to acquire derelict site compulsorily, pursuant to section 15 (1) of the Derelict Sites Act 1990 (as amended)

Owner/occupier of derelict site and structures at 3 Rossa Place, Cavan Town, County Cavan H12 HK83.

Notice is hereby given that Cavan County Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14 of the Derelict Sites Act 1990, as amended, intends to acquire compulsorily, the derelict site described hereunder.

A map of the said derelict site is available for viewing at the Planning Reception of Cavan County Council, Planning Department, Johnston Centre, Farnham Street, Cavan Town, H12 C9K1, and may be inspected there during its public opening hours Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays, also see map 1.1 attached.

Any owner, lessee or occupier (except a tenant for a month) may, on or before 23 October 2025, submit to the Local Authority an objection to the proposed compulsorily acquisition of the derelict site. Any such objection must be in writing stating the grounds of the objection and addressed to Cavan County Council, Derelict Sites Office, Planning Department, Johnston Centre, Farnham Street, Cavan Town, H12 C9K1.

The Derelict Sites Act, 1990 (as amended) provides that if an objection is made to the proposed compulsory acquisition of a derelict site and the objection is not withdrawn, the derelict site shall not be acquired compulsorily by the Local Authority without the consent of An Bord Pleanála.

The derelict site (reference number DS23069) is an unoccupied two storey, terraced residential unit located at 3 Rossa Place, Cavan Town, County Cavan H12 HK83 in the townland of Lurganboy (Loughtee Upper By).
