Promoting Road Safety at the Breffni Bash!
Cavan County Council's Road Safety Team was on hand at the Breffni Bash to encourage responsible driving with the Fline Box breathalyser kiosk. The Fline Box gave revellers real-time feedback on their alcohol levels, helping them make informed decisions before getting behind the wheel.
The breathalyser kiosks use Dräger alcohol sensor technology, providing an accurate alcohol reading within 10 seconds. Users blow into a straw, with the screen displaying their results and indicating whether they’re under or over the limit. If the result is over the limit, the system estimates how long it will take before it’s safe to drive.
Unfortunately, many people wrongly assume they’re under the limit when they’re not - putting themselves and others at serious risk. The data has shown that young men aged between 18-34 were most likely to underestimate their alcohol levels and say they were going to drive.
The breathalyser kiosks are an education measure to help drivers get a clear, scientific measure of their alcohol levels. But the real message is simple: if you have a drink, don’t drive.
