Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2023

Cavan County Council and Cavan County Local Development are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for project proposals under Measure 1 of the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme. 

The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2023 (ORIS) will support opportunities for recreational amenities located near rivers, lakes and beaches and also seeks to support recreational infrastructure that provides an inclusive approach for communities.   

The type of projects typically funded by the scheme include walking, hill walking, leisure cycling, mountain biking, orienteering, canoeing, rowing surfing diving stand up paddle boarding, angling/fishing trails. 

Other related projects include forest walks, mountain access routes, trail access to bird watching locations, floating boardwalks on lakes/ bogs, and natural play area. 

Measure 1 of the scheme provides funding for Small Scale Repair/Development/Promotion and Marketing with a maximum grant up to €30,000. 

A maximum of ten EOIs may be shortlisted for submission by Cavan County Council and Cavan County Local Development to the Department of Rural and Community Development for consideration. 

The scheme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development in partnership with Fáilte Ireland.

Completed Expressions of Interest with supporting documentation should be submitted to smonaghan@cavancoco.ie by 5pm, Friday, 28 July 2023. This closing date will be strictly adhered to.
