Decade of Centenaries Webisodes

In summer 2021, Cavan County Council’s Historian in Residence, Dr Brendan Scott presented a series of online ‘webisodes’ discussing historical incidents of note that occurred in Cavan 100 years ago as part of the ongoing Decade of Centenaries Commemorations.

Topics covered will include Lord Farnham and partition, the Workhouses and their fate following the foundation of the Free State, Major General Oliver Nugent and partition, unionism in Cavan, and IRA activity in West Cavan, Cavan prisoners in Ballykinlar Prison Camp, and more.

This lecture series forms part of Cavan County Council's Decade of Centenaries 2020 programme and is supported by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht under the Decade of Centenaries 2012-2023 Initiative.
