Emergency Road Closure, L-5591-0 Castle Street
Temporary Closing of Roads pursuant to Section 75 of Roads Act 1993 and Article 12 of Road Regulations 1994.
Notice is hereby given that Cavan County Council has made an order to close to public traffic the road described hereunder from Monday 27th July 2026 to Friday 31st July 2026 and again from Monday 3rd August 2026 to Wednesday 5th August 2026, 8am to 6pm each day for the purposes of resurfacing works.
Road closed
- L-5591-0 Castle Street (locally known as Castle Hill), Belturbet from its junction with the R-179-0 (Junction of Butler Street & Main Street) to its junction with the L-5590-0 (the Lawn).
Alternative Route
- North-westbound – From Junction L-5591-0 / R-197-0 travel south-westwards and north-westwards along the R-197-0 Butler Street and Upper Bridge Street to Junction R-197-0 / L-5590-0, (Junction of Upper Bridge Street, Lower Bridge Street and The Lawn), then north-eastwards along the L-5590-0 (The Lawn) to its junction with the L-5591-0 (Castle Street). End of detour.
- South-eastbound – The same alternative route in reverse will apply to south-eastbound traffic.
Diversions will be signposted for the duration of the works.
Local access will be accommodated where practicable.
